It’s National Pet Week! An annual celebration of pets, pet families, and veterinarians who all keep pets happy and healthy. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AMVA) created National Pet Week 38 years ago to celebrate America’s pets and support responsible pet care throughout the entire year.
At Ponderosa Veterinary Clinic, we live and breathe pet wellness each and every day. It is our team’s mission to not only care for each and every pet we see, but also to encourage pet families to always perform responsible pet care. We’ve compiled a list of ways to celebrate the bond you have with your pet while ensuring they are well taken care of.
Schedule A Checkup
There’s no better way to continue to focus on a lifelong friendship with your pet than by ensuring your pet’s health is in good shape! If you don’t already have a wellness exam scheduled in the next year, it’s time to give your veterinary clinic a call and get your furry loved one on the books! Wellness exams check for underlying health issues that can cause greater harm later! It’s always best to lean toward the safe side when it comes to your pet’s health.
Go For A Walk
It’s springtime in Southern Colorado and there’s no better time to get out and explore the wonderful dog parks and pet-friendly hiking trails Colorado Springs, Falcon, Peyton, Monument, and more have to offer!
Put Safety First
Whether you recently adopted a new kitten or rescued an older dog, it’s important to ensure your pet is always safe. Pets can often become afraid and run away from their loved ones, so take the time to have your pet microchipped. Microchipping is an excellent way to provide peace of mind for your family. Be sure to take the time to check that your pet’s vaccinations are updated, especially before taking them out to dog parks and public places.
Love On Other Animals
It’s the perfect time to not only show your pets how much you care, but to volunteer to care for additional pets that might not be so fortunate. There are many organizations throughout Colorado Springs that welcome volunteers throughout the year in order to provide love and care for pets without permanent homes. Here are just a few to look into:
